Stained Glass Leadlight Course
Learn how to make your own stained glass leadlight panel in this hands-on course at Sydney Community College. Guided by an experienced tutor with over 20 years in the craft, you will practise essential techniques including glass cutting, leading, soldering, cementing and polishing.
This practical course combines step-by-step demonstrations with supervised studio work, allowing you to design and construct your own leadlight window panel (maximum size 450mm x 450mm). You’ll begin with a small practice panel before progressing to your individual design.
Please note this course focuses exclusively on traditional leadlight construction. Copper foil techniques, glass painting, kiln-fired glass methods, repairs and restoration are not covered.
Course Structure
- Weeks 1–2: Critical foundation sessions. Learn glass cutting and construct a small practice panel using provided materials.
- Weeks 3–8: Develop your full-size design, cut and assemble your panel, then cement and polish for a professional finish.
